The Elizabeth River District and Norfolk United Methodist Church hosted a virtual event, “Ministry on the Edge,” on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at 6 pm, to begin a critical conversation on race, power, and the impact of the pandemic on the church.
Dr. Sherry L. Daniels (Norfolk United Methodist Church, Senior Pastor @Virginia Conference–United Methodist Church)
Currently serving as the Senior Pastor of Norfolk United Methodist Church. Daniels is an experienced Pastor and consultant with a demonstrated history of working in the religious institution industry. Strong business development and professionally skilled in Preaching, Teaching, and the use of Technology in the church.
Daniels is a Washington Post Best-selling author of African American History Month Daily Devotions in 2013. This devotional was written to celebrate African American History Month, designed and written to inspire and encourage through meditations based on a Scripture passage, African American history as well as a theme-based prayer. Daniels is in the process of updating this devotional for 2021 in light of the 2020 pandemic and its impact on the church.

She is the owner of Hamm & Fox Communications, Inc., Norfolk, VA – crisis media management, media training for executives, marketing/pr materials for non-profits

Rev. Wayne Snead (District Superintendent–Elizabeth River District @Virginia Conference–United Methodist Church)
Wayne is a native of Virginia. He has served as a church planter, a large multisite pastor, and now as a District Superintendent of the United Methodist Church. He consults, coaches and leads clergy and laity in creating vitality in local churches. He leads workshops on church growth, leadership, and discipleship. He is working toward his ACC coaching credentials with the International Coach Federation.
