The Soul Shop Movement exists due to the need of desperately hurting people to be heard, noticed, and seen within their faith communities. Soul Shop provides training and support to faith community leaders. Suicide reaches into people’s lives in multiple ways: through the death or suicide attempt of a loved one, through their own former or current suicidal thinking, or through worries about others going through hard times. At this moment, 1 out of 2 people in most congregations is personally impacted by the reality of suicide. 

The present pandemic has magnified only some of the contributors to depression and suicide, including loneliness, strained relationships, addiction, and lack of access to mental health professionals. Many congregations experience deaths to suicide among their own members, skyrocketing the impact to 100% of the congregation. 

Soul Shop seeks to equip congregations in responding to desperation and create soul safe communities. The workshop helps Christians to respond to suicidal desperation, gain practical skills in how to help someone in suicidal ideation, and what to do should we find ourselves thinking about suicide.

In addition to being facilitated by Rev. Randy Duncan, Jeremy Crum, and Rev. Stephanie Parker, there will be wonderful Lifeguards who will be on hand should anyone need to talk.
