Discover the Possibilities

Discovering the Possibilities is a facilitated process, developed by Rev. Dr. Phil Maynard, designed to assist congregational leaders in understanding the realities of their ministry context and current ministries. This process will begin a discernment of possibilities for their future in ministry.

After a day of discovery, the district prepares a written Possibilities Report with a summary of the current reality and demographics and recommendations for next steps.

Young Clergy Coaching Cohort

The Young Clergy Cohort is an initiative of the Coastal Virginia District to provide coaching from an experienced executive coach in coaching groups to a cohort of young clergy. The initiative includes a 2-day retreat, a year of coaching in coaching groups, and quarterly one-on-one coaching. In addition, there will be leadership development coordinated by the Coordinator for Church Revitalization.

The goal of the Young Clergy Cohort is to invest in and equip young clergy in the areas of congregational and personal development. Trained facilitators will guide churches through the process.
