General Conference 2020

Breakthrough Prayer for General Conference

A breakthrough prayer is inviting God to breakthrough and do what only God can do. The Coastal Virginia District is inviting all laity, clergy, and churches to pray the following prayer, written by Rev. Tim Craig (Great Bridge UMC), through General Conference. Find creative ways to incorporate the prayer into the life of your church and into your daily spiritual practices.

Gracious Lord God, in a world full of headlines there is but one that you have called us to live by: You loved the world so much that You gave Your Son Jesus Christ to save us and promise that whosoever believes in Him will have eternal life. With such love, You broke through and now it is our turn to breakthrough with such love for one another that the world might be transformed yet again. Whatever may happen in the future, may our desire, devotion, and direction always be centered on the love of Jesus Christ. May the Holy Spirit continually guide our Resident Bishop Sharma Lewis, our Coastal Virginia District Superintendent Wayne Snead, our District Lay Leader Darlene Amon, our Church Revitalization Coordinator Jason Stanley, and all our pastors and lay members so that our churches will be spiritual families where no one misses out on Your grace. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

Informational Sessions

The Coastal Virginia District will be hosting a series of Informational Sessions around the district to provide laity and clergy information about what is coming before the General Conference in May. These sessions will be led by General Conference Delegation members.

All Informational Sessions have been postponed at this time.
